Operated by the Medienwerkstatt (media workshop) Frankfurt for eight
years, the Filmtheater Valentin offers a diverse programme between demanding
Hollywood cinema and independent films, German trash and French authors'
cinema.
Although located close to a large multiplex cinema, thanks to the creative
programme and defined quality standard the operators have achieved in winning
their own public. The idea of screening specific individual films according
to public wishes for demanding material has prospered. The Valentin can
now count on a regular audience. Once threatened by closure when the lease
for the former troop cinema expired and the building was to make way for
a parking lot, the 240-seat cinema today occupies a firm position in Frankfurt's
cinema scenario.
