The hr Bigband is today one of Germany’s most innovative jazz orchestras. With creative programme arangements, a busy concert schedule and top grade musicians and soloists it sets new yardsticks in terms of quality and diversity.
The orchestra’s 17 musicians supremely present the entire spectrum of jazz and indeed burst the limits to classic, pop and world music. Entertainment and art, projects with young talents and with international greats, presence at concerts, radio broadcasts and on CDs, today make up the portfolio of the hr-Bigband. The band is a welcome guest at leading jazz festivals in Germany and abroad and, thanks to its manifold composition and arrangement profiles, it propels the development of orchestral jazz.
