con tempo - Ensemble für zeitgenössische Musik

con tempo - Cultural Club for Contemporary Music

The programme of Ensemble con tempo (director: Udo Diegelmann) offers a unique mixture of instruments, songs, electronics, lyrics and scenes. The work of the musicians in different groups since 1995 is marked by many unconventional and successful premieres.

Already numerous pieces have been written specifically for con tempo. It deserves particular mention that the ensemble regularly takes part in diverse new music events in Germany and abroad, their recordings for CD and broadcasting as well as their musical theatre productions “Painful Strokes and Horrible Screams” inspired by Heinrich Hoffmann’s “Shock-Headed Peter” (2001), “Bombay Quartet” (2006), “Die Schatten von Istanbul” (The Shadows of Istanbul) (2008), and “Das wahre Buenos Aires” (The Real Buenos Aires) (2010).

Since 2002, the con tempo cultural association has been organising the Frankfurter Herbsttage für Neue Komposition (Frankfurt Autumn Convention for New Composition). The association receives support from the City of Frankfurt, the State of Hesse, the Deutsche Musikrat (German Music Council) as well as from various foundations for culture and the arts.
