"You enjoy going to concerts? In Frankfurt's Alte Oper we stage classical concerts especially for you. In these youth concerts of the hr Symphony Orchestra you experience fantastic worlds of sound. Canned music, like in the cinema or on CD, just cannot compete with this. And not only is the music marvellous, the price is too: "as inexpensive as a cinema ticket".
For more than 50 years the youth concerts of the hr Symphony Orchestra have proven that classic is not synonymous with boredom. All youth concerts are commentated. The audience is acquainted with the works by discussions with musicians, the conductor and sometimes also with the composer.
Concerts are exclusively for schoolchildren, students and trainees. Please do not forget to bring your school/student card.

Music teachers wishing to attend concerts with their classes can order teaching material in advance from the network "Musik und Schule": note examples, interpretations and practice sheets for advance and subsequent preparation. Managed in cooperation by hr and the Hessen Ministry of Culture the network also offers school classes the opportunity to attend rehearsals of the hr Symphony Orchestra, informs on children's concerts and also arranges for hr musicians to visit school music classes.
