The St Katharinen Church on the Hauptwache is a centre of ecclesiastical music in the middle of Frankfurt.
The around 25 evening concerts in the cycle "Musik in St Katharinen" - as a rule on Wednesday or Sunday -
have won a firm place in Frankfurt's music calendar.
On Mondays and Thursdays - except public holidays - "30 Minutes of Organ Music" can be heard. Admission is
free.
Built in 1990, the Rieger organ of the church with its 54 registers is an ideal instrument for presenting organ
music dating from early times to the present.
Martin Lücker, long-standing organist and Professor at the College of Music and Dramatic Arts, is an
outstanding representative of his profession ("The breath of a great organist", La Presse, Montreal).
The St Katharinen church choir and the concerto vocale - directed by Michael Graf Münster cultivate
the long tradition of oratorio literature and the broad spectrum of choir music a-capella.
Organizers of the concert cycle are the parish of St Katharinen and the "Association to Promote Church Music
in St Katharinen", founded in 1957.
