Since its foundation in the year 1960, the Children’s Choir Frankfurt has developed under the care of Radio Hessen. Under its auspices the Choir has performed songs and oratorios for programmes for Children’s Radio and for the Music Section of HR Choirs. It has also sung at numerous external concerts and events, for example, Alte Oper Frankfurt and other concert venues.
Requirement for membership in the Children’s Choir Frankfurt is a distinctly good and clear voice, an ear for music, adequate fundamental musical knowledge and active interest in music. The ability to play an instrument and to read music are desirable assets.
The Choir rehearses once weekly at HR, and, according to requirements, also at weekends and on special occasions.
Membership in the Choir, an ensemble of up to 60 children aged between 10 and 17, provides intensified musical training and growing musical proficiency. The choir works regularly with professional groups. Membership should be foreseen on a long-term basis.
