The Day of German Reunification is celebrated at the Frankfurt Römerberg with a big festival where the focus is on jazz. In 2002, when the idea for the celebration was born, it was appropriate to make jazz the keynote, because Frankfurt is a jazz stronghold.
The first Reunification Day festival already enjoyed wide acceptance, the people of Frankfurt honoured the programme with surprisingly high attendance. The idea has blossomed and it documents how firmly jazz is rooted in the metropolis on the Main.
The people of Frankfurt and their guests are cordially invited to jointly celebrate the Day of German Reunification, each year on October 3, at the Römerberg: jazz live on stage with free admission. Jazz in all its diversity is the setting and platform for the event and its traditions in the city are testimony of Frankfurt’s internationalism and openness for all cultures.
