Jazzinitiative Frankfurt/Main e.V.

The Jazzinitiative Frankfurt/Main (JIF) association is a registered charity. It was founded by Frankfurt jazz musicians in 1990 as a platform for modern jazz in Frankfurt with the aim to increase performance opportunities, support jazz musicians and invite renowned groups to play in Frankfurt.

Since its foundation, the Jazzinitiative has received financial support by the Culture Board of Frankfurt, Frankfurter Sparkasse bank as well as several other sponsors.

The initiative’s partners include the Palmengarten botanical gardens, the Romanfabrik and Club Voltaire amongst others. All in all, the JIF annually organises around 20 concerts in cooperation with the above venues and open-air concerts at the Palmengarten. These are supplemented once in a while by special events, for instance at the central library in Frankfurt, Dr. Hoch's Conservatory and Künstlerhaus Freitagsküche.

Once a year, the JIF organises the award ceremony for the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship.
