The Institute for Contemporary Music (IzM) was founded in June 2005 at the “Frankfurt College of Music and the Performing Arts”. The IzM initiates interdisciplinary projects and cooperates with institutions regionally and pan-regionally, for example, Ensemble Modern, the Internationale Musikinstitut Darmstadt, the Institut für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft, Giessen, the Hessische Rundfunk, Oper Frankfurt, the Hessische Staatstheater Wiesbaden and the Donaueschingen Days of Music.
The IzM is the College’s mirror of events from regional and pan-regional cultural life. It is the internal and external intermediary for contemporary music. Regular events include the series of concerts shortcuts, where teachers and pupils present segments of their current work in 14-day rhythm.
