The concert series Frankfurter Bachkonzerte has been bringing notable national and international soloists and ensembles to Frankfurt since 1961. About 10 concerts are held per season at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. Subscribers can choose between six concerts in the Großer Saal and 4 concerts in the Mozart-Saal. The emphasis of the concept lies on providing "historically and artistically accurate performances" of Johann Sebastian Bach's entire body of orchestral and choral work, as well as works from other pre-Baroque and Baroque composers. A further declared ambition of the concert series is to juxtapose Bach's work with contemporary compositions. The eponymous association Frankfurter Bachkonzerte e.V. also sponsors young musicians and ensembles.
