Frankfurt LAB has been founded as a creative „lab of modernity“, a space dedicated to experimental art. Research, production and education are the core duties of this lab. Its mission is to develop new ways of performing and communicating – spontaneous, flexible, reacting to current developments. For anyone interested in the arts this means: a space without a set programme but one where productions by the general public can be put on at short notice. A space inviting audiences to critically engage with the LAB artists and their work.
Frankfurt LAB is made possible through funding by the kulturfonds frankfurt rheinmain, the Stiftung Polytechnische Gesellschaft Frankfurt am Main and the BHF-BANK-Stiftung.Frankfurt LAB was created with the intention of providing a ‘laboratory for contemporary art’, a space for experimentation. Research, production, and communication are the core purposes of this laboratory. New ways of representation and communication are to be developed, which are spontaneous, adaptable, and reflect current developments. For an audience interested in the arts, this means a performing space without a fixed repertoire, but where public performances can be put on at short notice – a space offering the public the chance to critically engage with the work of the artists performing at Frankfurt LAB.
„Frankfurt LAB – Das Musik-, Theater- und Tanzlabor der Moderne für Frankfurt RheinMain e. V.“, a non-profit organisation, was founded in 2009 on the initiative of the Ensemble Modern, the Hessian Theatre Academy, the Academy of Music and the Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main, the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and the Forsythe Company.
