The Frankfurt Jazz Big Band, described by Wolfgang Sandner in the FAZ as “the reinvigoration of the faded myth of the one-time Jazz capital of Germany” was founded in 1986. Alongside its contemporary repertoire, diverse specials feature repeatedly in the programme, such as Gershwin, Ellington, jazz history (30s, 40s and 50s).
