The evangelical Festeburgkirche church was built in 1969. Today, it is regarded as the spiritual, social, and cultural heart of the southern part of Frankfurt’s district of Preungesheim. Music groups, a children’s choir, the Preungesheim ecumenical choir, and the ecumenical brass band have their rehearsals here.
Every other month after the Sunday morning service, the “Musikalische Matinée” (musical matinee) concert series takes place at the Festeburgkirche church. At these concerts, the church organist Frank Hoffmann and guest musicians perform church music for a solo organ as well as for organ plus one accompanying instrument.
Originally planned as a school for church music, the Festeburgkirche church has fantastic acoustics. The professionally equipped recording studio is regularly used by broadcasting companies and record companies for LP and CD recordings.
The “Freundeskreis für geistliche Musik Preungesheim e.V.” (Preungesheim friends of church music association) has been organising the successful series of chamber music concerts Festeburgkonzerte for the past 35 years.
