The Lutherkantorei –Lutheran Church Choir – exists since 1894, almost as long as the parish itself, which was founded one year previously in Frankfurt’s Nordend. Over the years the parish choir has developed into a versatile and competent ensemble. The choir arranges two to three major concerts annually, usually together with an orchestra and a soloist. It also sings regularly in church services on Sundays and public holidays. The repertoire covers a wide range of religious vocal music, from works of the Renaissance period to compositions in various styles from the 20. century.
Major works performed in recent years include: C. Ph. E. Bach: Magnificat. J. S. Bach: Magnificat; Weihnachtsoratorium I - VI. A. Dvorak: Messe D-Dur. R. Grössler: Gospelmesse "Mass of Joy". G. F. Händel: Messias. R. Keiser: Markuspassion. W. A. Mozart: Vesperae de Dominica. C. Saint-Saëns: Oratorio de Noël. H. Schütz: Passionen. G. Ph. Telemann: Lukaspassion, Oratorio "Die Schöpfung": Joseph Haydn.
