Founded in the commemorative Bach year 2000 on 21 March, the 315 birthday of
Johann Sebastian Bach, the Bach Institute and Bach Choir Frankfurt am Main has
the objective of introducing the total work of Bach to new circles of listeners,
particularly young people, also using the medium of discussion concerts.
The artistic repertoire covers the entire work of Bach, as well as outstanding works
that Bach influenced and those that stand in his succession. Of special significance
is the dialogue of interpretations of Bach works by diverse performers: soloists,
chamber choir, large choir and boys' choir, as well as vis à vis of old and new
instruments.
In addition to the actual Bach Choir, a mixed chamber choir, other ensembles
participate in individual performances, for example, the Posen Boys' Choir and
Orchestra, and those which are particularly connected with the work of Bach, such
as the Prague Bach Orchestra and experienced vocal and instrumental soloists.
Excerpts from press echoes:
"In professionalism the ensemble is on a level with
famous English formations. A meticulous and smooth interpretation is even then
guaranteed when the 22 singers have to form a double choir (Frankfurter
Rundschau, 12 Oct 2000).
"In conjunction with the committed and infallibly
performing Prague Bach Orchestra, the outstandingly well-prepared Frankfurt Bach
Choir gave a brilliantly impressive performance" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 19 April 2001).
