Literaturhaus Frankfurt is a venue for literary encounters and the interpretation of contemporary international literature. It was founded in 1991 and in 2005 moved from Westend into the newly reconstructed premises of Alte Stadtbibliothek. The classicist rooms on Schöne Aussicht are the scene of readings, talks on non-fiction works, publisher discussions, symposia and congresses, awards of prizes and exhibitions. During the Book Fair the guest of honour is represented here with readings and events. Children’s book readings are held for younger audiences and writing workshops for teenagers. In 2005 the Literaturhaus was awarded the “Binding Culture Prize” for its activities and its significance for cultural life of the City of Frankfurt.
