The central activity of the charitable association “basis” is the allocation of inexpensive working premises for creative people from all fields in conjunction with the presentation of young artistic positions, which reflect social and cultural contexts.
“basis” curates exhibitions that present and communicate the social potential of international contemporary art in monographic projects and theme-related group exhibitions. The exhibition rooms on the ground and souterrain floors of the building in the Elbestrasse offer a total presentation area of ca. 400 m2. Furthermore at Elbestrasse 10, in the richly diversified urban atmosphere of the Frankfurt Bahnhof district, “basis” offers 32 affordable workrooms at prices way below the commercial rent levels of the district.
