Helsinki has maintained its artist interchange program HIAP (Helsinki International Artist in Residence Programme) since 1999. An old cable factory near the city’s West Harbour has been converted into a central production workshop for culture creators of all genres. The sweeping complex also offers three guest studios. Artists have the opportunity to establish contacts to the Finnish art scenario and they enjoy local support for planning and staging exhibitions.
