Atelier Goldstein

Thirteen artists with different forms of mental disability have been working since 2001 in a studio of the Lebenshilfe in Frankfurt Goldstein under the direction of the graduate stage set designer Christiane Cuticchio. They are helped by Frankfurt artists and art education students of Goethe University. The artists were identified in hostels and at their places of work, where, due to their partly obsessive preoccupation with design, they attracted the attention of staff. They often created their own fantasy world, whether as compensation or escape is open to question. Now, they have the space, material and personal assistance needed to work like professional artists. One speculates on what treasures will thereby come to light. Everything appears to be already available.
