The vision of “Dramatische Bühne” is a revival of the ludicrous and audacious theatre dream that has hardly been dreamt again since the time of Shakespeare. Stories packed simultaneously with jocularity and profundity, rich in costumes, stage sets and (dubious) theatre magic, the splendour and wretchedness of the comedy and pantomime professions, fully focused on lines and players and not on time-restricted caprices of interpretation, endearing, old-fashioned and hackneyed maybe, yet likewise marvellous. And the audience should indeed be as heterogeneous as the productions: punks and bankers, teenies and oldies, who want to join in the merriment and magic spontaneously and without prompting.
Place of performance and production of the “Dramatische Bühne” is the Exzess-Halle in Bockenheim and during the summer recess the ensemble arranges its own al fresco festival in Frankfurt, where the current repertoire is shown.
