The Rhine-Main area has a rich and extremely vibrant tradition also in the area of contemporary music. The biennial cresc... festival of modern music is a joint venture of the area’s cultural institutions and organisations. The festival was co-founded by its sponsor, the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain. cresc... is a platform for contemporary music.
Every two years, the festival presents a broad spectrum of different approaches, positions and perspectives within contemporary music, from key works of the 20th and 21st centuries up to premieres of young composers’ pieces. The biennial’s two core orchestras are the Ensemble Modern and the hr-Sinfonieorchester, which are supported by outstanding guest ensembles.
