... is a summer festival that enjoys a long-standing tradition. Held annually during August and September, this open-air festival offers art in public places and unusual locations. Using artistic media the festival creates communication and meeting points in the City that are used by thousands of people. Summer in the City comprises two series of productions: "Jazz in the Museum" and "World Music" in the Palmengarten.
The internationality of the programme has become the festival's brand identity. Artists have performed from Australia, Japan, Belgium, Cuba, Poland, USA and many other countries. The programme is frequently rounded off by a number of outstanding Frankfurt artists (e.g. Michael Sagmeister, Albert + Emil Mangelsdorff, Michael Quast, Heinz Sauer, Michael Riessler, Jos Rinck).
All performances are held in the open air.
