Hannes Seidl studied composition under Nicolaus A. Huber and Thomas Neuhaus at the Folkwang Academy in Essen and under Beat Furrer at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Graz. He has won several scholarship awards, such as the award of the Darmstadt International Summer Course for New Music, amongst others. He has also received scholarships from the Berlin Academy of Arts and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). He won the Impuls International Composition Competition in 2005 and the Composition Competition of the Bremer Landesmusikrat (Bremen Music Council) in 2006.
He develops his compositions together with musical ensembles, such as the Ensemble Modern, KNM Berlin, Ensemble Mosaik, and Klangforum Wien. In 2009, the hr-Sinfonieorchester gave the first performance of his composition FEST. Seidl lives in Frankfurt am Main.
