Scholarship programme of the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung

Every year, the Jürgen Ponto Stiftung awards scholarships to selected winners of the German youth music competition "Jugend musiziert".

The monthly stipend from the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung allows the recipients (vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles) to concentrate on their musical development. Since the foundation was established in 1977, more than 300 artists have profited from this sponsorship programme, laying the foundation for a career as professional musicians. Former recipients include such renowned names as the pianists Lars Vogt and Igor Levit, the cellist Daniel Müller-Schott, and violinists Veronika Eberle and Christian Tetzlaff.

The monthly allowance amounts to 300 Euros for soloists, and 1,000 Euros per year and member for ensembles. All in all, a total of 70,000 Euros is made available for allocation each year. Scholarships are awarded for a period of at least one year, and for a maximum period of three years.
