Rockmobil is an initial organization for cultural youth activities. It is aimed particularly at young people whose difficult background has excluded them from participating in such activities. With this approach Rockmobil is simultaneously pursuing cultural-political, culture-pedagogical and socio-pedagogical goals. Founded in 1988, it has served as the blueprint for 20 mobile music units throughout Germany.
Key element of the Frankfurt Rockmobil is music groupwork. In 25 facilities for children and young people in Frankfurt, the Rockmobil regularly offers music activities. Meanwhile, the work with the medium music has mushroomed to all styles of popular music.
Alongside the band projects the following activities are in the pipeline:
- cooperation projects youth/schools with the working field of music
- international youth exchange programs to eastern Europe with focus on music
- music-making with children/producing children's radio plays
- HipHop projects/work with the groove box
- CD productions and studio activities
- percussion groups with children and young people (Brazilian, Cuban, African)
- vocal groups and individual coaching
- dance projects
Supporter of Rockmobil is the Caritasverband Frankfurt e.V., to which the Frankfurt Kulturmobil also belongs. In addition to music, media, dancing and theatre are also integrated into municipal work.
