Landesmusikrat Hessen e.V.

The Landesmusikrat Hessen is an affiliation of 60 institutions, organizations and associations, which represent the music life of the state. This takes place in the professional, teaching and amateur fields, with a total of more than five hundred thousand people, who as musicians, singers, music lovers, music teachers and pupils or other functions, actively shape Hessen's musical life. The State Music Council also has eight individual members. The diversity of activities and objectives must be coordinated and integrated in the joint interest. As a forum for discussion, the Council must allow the interchange of ideas, the pinpointing of problems and their solutions, it must provide inspiration and favour positive developments, reveal deficiencies and articulate requirements.

To fulfil its obligations and because in an all-encompassing political sense the promotion of music is of outstanding significance for the culture of a state, the Landesmusikrat Hessen works closely with the State Government and the Hessen Ministry for Science and Arts, which also provides funds for individual projects. Key issues are advice and support in detailed questions, but above all also the guidelines for a cultural policy that furthers the musical life of Hessen.
