Chor- und Orgelmeile Frankfurt (festival of choral and organ music)

Since 1998, as part of the Museumsuferfest (Museum Riverbank Festival), the festival of choral and organ music "Chor- und Orgelmeile Frankfurt" has attracted thousands of visitors to the Roman Catholic and Evangelical churches of Frankfurt's inner city on the last weekend of August. The festival comprises two parts: the "Orgelmeile" (literally: "Organ Boulevard") on Saturday, followed by the "Chormeile" ("Choral Boulevard") on Sunday.
The basic principle is simple: one after the other, the selected churches stage a thirty-minute performance of organ music or choir music starting every hour on the hour. After each performance, visitors have 30 minutes to find the next church for the start of the next performance. This is the idea behind the concept of the "musical boulevard", culminating in the final performance at Frankfurt’s cathedral, the Kaiserdom.
The concerts are as varied and diverse as the performing organists and choirs. Admission is free of charge.
The "Chor- und Orgelmeile Frankfurt" is jointly hosted by the Evangelischer Regionalverband of Frankfurt (Regional Association of the Evangelical Church), the (Roman Catholic) Diocese of Limburg, and the Tourismus und Congress GmbH of Frankfurt.
