In the autumn of 2014, a new branch of the MUSEUM MMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST, comprising some 2,000 square metres of additional exhibition space, opened at the TaunusTurm in Frankfurt’s financial district. The new branch – TOWER MMK – will present a new exhibition approximately every half year, featuring works from the collection from the perspective of current themes.
Artworks from the MMK’s extensive holdings will be related to contemporary issues and enhanced with new productions. Developed especially for the TOWER MMK, this exhibition concept combines elements of the collection presentation and the temporary thematic show.
The change of presentations every six to eight months will permit the development of multifarious scenarios and, in the long term, offer a means of helping hidden treasures of the collection to visibility and placing them in new contexts.
