The Frankfurt artist Barbara Englert is known as the performer of leading womens' roles of various temperaments: Jean d'Orleans, Klymtaemnestra and, from modern times, Petra Kelly.
She has performed at the municipal and state theaters in Freiburg, Essen and Stuttgart. She has worked with free theatre groups in Frankfurt since 1993 and stages children's and youth theatre productions. She reads the literary and the political and in these readings asserts her own interpretation of retaining the spirit and beauty of classical texts whilst discarding the antiquated and presenting them to her public with new vivacious freshness.
