Uli Schiffelholz, winner of the Work Stipend Jazz in 2011, writes his own compositions and arrangements for the Uli Schiffelholz Quintett, founded in 2009.
Together with other members of the group, Uli Schiffelholz has worked in numerous additional projects in recent years alone, such as the "Thomas Bachmann Group" with Ralf Cetto (bass) and Thomas Bachmann (saxophone). Further cooperations include duet performances with Valentín Garvie (trumpet), the "Community" band with Bob Degen (piano) and Ralf Cetto (bass), and a number of concert appearances with Jean-Yves Jung (piano) in different formations.
The Uli Schiffelholz Quintett concentrates on playing own works, influenced by contemporary musicians as diverse as John Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette, Elvin Jones, Thelonious Monk and Dave Holland.
