The Soul-Power of Gospels & Spirituals:
THE JACKSON SINGERS gained recognition and popularity almost immediately. Bob Jackson from Indianapolis founded the group in 1983.
Although all the singers and musicians are from various areas in the USA, they all have one thing in common - a good "ole" Sunday-going church Gospel and Spiritual background. Their program is a singing sermon of traditional Spirituals and contemporary Gospels.
THE JACKSON SINGERS have appeared on programs with Oscar Peterson, Lionel Hampton, Odetta, Paul Anka, Olivia Molina, Jose Carreras and a host of international stars.
Hessischer Rundfunk - German TV - celebrated its 60th anniversary as a radio station and 30th as a TV station in March 1984. The featured artists included Oscar Peterson, Olivia Molina, and the Jackson Singers. This televised event marked the beginning of the Jackson Singers appearances and performances throughout all of Europe.
THE JACKSON SINGERS have also appeared as vocals with Far Corporation (Stairway to Heaven), Meatloaf, Smokie, Milli Vanilli, Münchner Freiheit, Supermax, and many others.
Wherever THE JACKSON SINGERS go - Austria, Belgium, Czech, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, they bring a music that reaches out, touches, and moves everybody who listens to it.
No matter where you have already experienced or will hear or see THE JACKSON SINGERS - at churches, cathedrals, jazz festivals, weddings, galas, TV-shows, in Alain Courneau's awardwinning film "Le Nouveau Monde", or on Thomas Gottschalk's TV-show, they create a mood of emotions and enthusiasm with their music.
The JACKSON SINGERS use an international language - music, based on an international source - the Bible. A Key-note to the popularity of the group is the manner and style which the singers and musicians interpret the music. They create a mood of enthusiastic rejoicing in deep reverence. They express universal love in the simple language of music.
For THE JACKSON SINGERS, music is not only an essential and cherished part of life, it is a way of life to challenge the realities of life and suffering.
