Main Kammerorchester

The MAIN KAMMERORCHESTER was founded in 2003 by amateur musicians from Frankfurt and surrounding districts. Since then, the around 20 members have performed several concerts – in churches, in the “Lodge of Unity” in Kaiserstrasse and repeatedly in a seniors’ residence. The musical repertoire (partly in conjunction with students of the Frankfurt Music Academy) ranges from works of the baroque to modern and includes Beethoven’s 3. Piano Concert, the 1. Piano Concert by Shostakovich, Elgar’s String Serenade op 20 and works by Czech composers such as Zach, Dvorák, Janácek and Benda. The programme of July 2004 featured the première of the concert for piano, cembalo and string orchestra by the young Russian composer Stanislav Tiraspolskyi.

To further extend their repertoire, the members of the Main Kammerorchester work intensively under their conductor Jan Polívka on questions pertaining to technology, intonation and practical performance skills. Virtually all musicians possess long-standing orchestral experience and perform regularly in various chamber music ensembles.
