Top class baroque music performed by the Main Baroque Orchestra Frankfurt is presented three times
annually in the refectory of Karmeliterkloster. This mediaeval monastery nestles in Frankfurt's old town
centre, between towering highrises and the traditional building complex of the Römer. With its cloisters,
the St Maria chapel, the dormitorium and refectorium, the monastery is a captivating environment for
presenting old music. As a concert auditorium, the refectorium, with its 250 seats, possesses outstanding
acoustics. With a thematically oriented, exceptional program concept, unconventional and stirring
interpretations at the highest level and cooperation with top class soloists, the Main Baroque Orchestra
and this concert series have established an image that is respected way beyond city borders. Organized by
the Museum for Pre- and Early History together with the Main Baroque Orchestra since 1999, the series
has developed into one of the most interesting and attractive concert events that Frankfurt and the Rhine
Main region can offer in the field of old music.
Admission tickets for the concerts can be obtained from the ticket office at the Hauptwache. A leaflet
and further information is available from the Orchestra Office.
