The Figural Choir Frankfurt works closely with the radio station Hessische Rundfunk, to which it was founded in 1966. It has been conducted since foundation by Prof. Alois Ickstadt. The Choir follows its artistic goals on the basis of a long-term relationship with its members, who receive their vocal training. The repertoire covers representative as well as special works of a capella music from the Renaissance to the modern, as well as oratio literature.
Regular performances in Frankfurt and concert tours in Germany and abroad have won the Figural Choir far-reaching repute and acclaim. The Choir performs with many famous artists and orchestras, such as the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Antwerp, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic and the Radio Symphony Orchestras of Frankfurt and Saarbrücken. It has thereby worked with conductors such as Y. Ahronovitch, V. Ashkenazy, G. Albrecht, M. Gielen, D. Kitajenko, M. Viotti, H. Wolff, H. Zender, J. Nelson and P. Carignani.
The Figural Choir Frankfurt is a member of the Work Study Group Frankfurt Choirs. It can be heard in numerous productions for the Hessische Rundfunk and on albums.
