Die Dissonanten Tanten are at home in jazz, pop, and swing as well as rap, recitation, and improvisation, performing with finesse and verve. These 30 or so spirited ladies have been enlivening the choir scene in the Rhein-Main area and beyond since 1990. A typical evening with Die Dissonanten Tanten is not merely a performance, but rather a themed choral event, invested with plenty of soul and wit.
Viola Engelbrecht, the choir's musical director since 1994, is a trained jazz musician (trombone, piano, and vocals), and writes her own music arrangements and compositions for her singers, many of which have been published.
