The Society of Friends of the German Museum of Architecture was founded as registered association in 1985. Key objective of the Society is to provide spiritual and material support for the public function of the German Museum of Architecture (DAM).
The assignments and goals of the Society include:
• Arranging the acquisition of, purchasing or donating plans, drawings and models of both German as well as international architecture projects and of architectural inheritances with the goal of their scientific assessment and the publicly effective presentation of the results by DAM.
• Support in procurement and events.
• Constructive advice and encouragement in the execution of prevailing DAM projects.
• The execution of an intermediary function between DAM and the general public.
Members of the Society are persons, institutions or companies whose aim is to play their part in promoting the quality of our built-up environment. The board, voted into office in October 1996, is made up of personalities from the fields of business, politics, education, banking and culture. This ensures that information and contacts from diverse sectors of society can be utilized to the benefit of the goals of the Society.
To further as intensive contacts as possible among members, at least one general meeting is convened annually. All members of the Society of Friends of the German Museum of Architecture receive regular information on the programme of the Museum, e.g.
• Exhibitions
• Lectures
• Symposia
Members can visit the Museum free of charge. Other benefits include, e.g. 10% discount on all DAM publications on sale in the foyer.
