Founded and run by students of Frankfurt's Goethe University and now in its 50. year, the "Pupille Cinema" was the student forerunner of the programme cinema. Both critical as well as entertaining films are screened in the large hall above the "Communication centre" on the campus. The committed programme directors, all students, put together small retrospectives and thematic film series and occasionally invite film-makers to discourse and discussion sessions.
