The „Video City“ video shop offers by far the most comprehensive selection of films on DVD and VHS in the Rhine Main area. They stock around 67.000 titles, thanks to DVD a large proportion of them in the original version.
A broad range of titles is available in all categories and genres: be it silent movie or documentary, Hollywood action, French auteur cinema, opera productions or animal documentaries, Fassbinder or Spielberg.
If you’re looking for something specific, try the official website, which can also be accessed in the shop. By searching the categories title, person, key words and subject you can check whether your title is available.
By using the „browse“ function it is possible to select several titles from the results of a combined search in the categories genre, countries, language, subtitle, awards and possibly also period of time. The search results can be sorted according to year or alphabetically. The most recent publications can be displayed separately. Furthermore, the search results can be filtered for availability on DVD or VHS.
The website is updated on a weekly basis.
Membership costs €10 (one-off payment). The fee does not apply to students (on production of ID).
The standard charge ranges between € 1,70 and € 2,10 per calendar day, a subscription reduces the lending fee.
A long-distance loan/hire is also available, if you wish to rent titles for longer periods of time (€ 60 deposit per title).
DVDs (used and new) as well as a choice of film literature are available to buy at reasonable prices.
