Rapid Prototyping

Modern product development increasingly takes place in a digital environment. To make virtual work as efficient as possible tools have been developed that enable prototypes to be produced extremely rapidly and in small batches. In product development rapid tooling and rapid manufacturing gain ever greater significance. At the EuroMold 2003 in Frankfurt the 12 institutes of the Fraunhofer Allianz exhibited innovations in the field of rapid prototyping, including a pen for freely sketching models in virtual space. This input tool was developed jointly with the Barski Design Studio of Olaf Barski in Frankfurt. The cyberstilo is a tool of rapid technology that has been researched and developed over a period of around 15 years. The stratified configuration of bodies directly from a three-dimensional CAD system allows the rapid depiction of an idea beyond the material production. The various rapid systems are employed by small and medium-sized companies and service providers.
