In September 1970 the HfG was conferred the status of an art college of the State of Hessen and since then is designated the College of Design Offenbach. Today it is divided into the two professional fields Visual Communication and Product Design leading to the qualification »Diplom Designer«.
The Visual Communication faculty covers the artistic, theoretical and technological instruction courses of currently 15 professors, 10 teachers for special assignments and numerous changing guest professors and lecturers.
The faculty of Product Design places its keynote on the development and intensification of product language, i.e. communicative competence. In contrast to the more technically oriented courses of other colleges, Offenbach follows a more humanistic approach that determines both theory and practice.
