The Chaplin Archive is a private museum whose collection has been opened to the public. The extensive permanent exhibition on two floors has direct and indirect connections to the silver screen legend.
The collection covers 6000 individual exhibits (books, magazines, film posters, photos, notes, advertising material, kitsch and miscellaneous items) and gives one a comprehensive picture of the artist, person and myth Charlie Chaplin.
Keynote of the archives is the film library: it includes around 450 different copies of the ca. 80 Chaplin films, including documentaries, animated films, cartoons and commercials. Numerous films with Chaplin mimics are also archived. In the own nostalgically furnished cinema with 20 seats the Chaplin Archive holds regular events, where films shown are described in a short slide show.
Likewise accessible is the 550-volume library (with 220 biographies alone), a newspaper and magazine archive and a video library with ca. 170 cassettes. Videos are shown by a wide-screen projector.
