High-grade music theatre is the hallmark of Frankfurt Opera. In 2018, Oper Frankfurt was once again voted "Opera House of the Year" by Opernwelt magazine as before in 2015. In 2009, the critic survey by “Opernwelt” rated the Museumsorchester Frankfurt as “Orchestra of the Year” and the soprano singer Christiane Karg, ensemble member of Oper Frankfurt, as “Emerging Artist of the Year”.

Founded in 1994 by Franz Leander Klee to perform his compositions, the group presents works in the fields of music, text, performance, and theatre.
