Kirchenmusikverein Frankfurt am Main e.V.

Supported by the "Arnold Thrun Society"

Enjoying a reputation way beyond city and state borders as an institution of the Frankfurt music scene, the Church Music Association Frankfurt am Main, founded by the Frankfurt merchant Arnold Thrun, has a tradition that goes back to 1950.

The objective of the Association still today is to enable inexpensive access to the major works of music literature. As a member of the “Arnold Thrun Society”, for a modest annual donation of at least Euro 50 one supports the work of the Association and is promptly sent invitations to ca. 20-25 concerts during the year.

As a recognized charitable organization, donations to the Association are tax deductible and it is therefore interesting for institutional sponsors.

The far-reaching repertoire ranges from Gregorian to music of the 20th century for complete orchestras. The musical domicile and performance venue for the majority of concerts is the acoustically superb Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit - s. photo) of the Dominikanerkloster in Frankfurt am Main. A regular feature of the programme is the annual event “Frankfurt Organ Days”, with international soloists on the Church’s large organ.

A long-standing cooperation arrangement with the Alte Oper Frankfurt allows the Association to offer its supporters up to seven concerts per year in the Alte Oper’s “Grosse Saal” at a small admission charge. Performances here are mainly symphonic and chamber music.

International soloists, orchestras, choirs, conductors and ensembles guarantee the ongoing high musical standard of the concerts and make the “Church Music Association Frankfurt am Main” a very special musical experience. This and the moderate financial contribution is the formula for the success of the now more than 50-year old Association.
