Library in the German Film Museum

The common library of the German Film Institute / German Film Museum encloses approx. 80,000 publications on film history and film theory, prehistory and early history of film, on people and institutions, on single films, genres and film motives, on film economy and film technology. Moreover, reference books, film fiction and published screenplays.

The historical continuance contains film books and film publications from 1897 on. Furthermore publications which have not appeared in book trade as for example festival and exhibition catalogues, thesis papers, institution pamphlets and manuscripts.

Moreover, the library offers 180 current periodicals, as well as an extensive collection of historical magazines.

A lending of the books and videos is not possible. For the sighting of videos and DVDs five viewing places are available on site for two people each.
